SHELDON (JERRY) G. YUCHT
Physician Consultant

Dr. Yucht has over 20 years experience in clinical practice as a pulmonary/critical care specialist, Board Certified in Internal and Pulmonary Medicine, and has held managed care leadership positions throughout most of his medical career. His expertise includes utilization-quality management program design and operations, compliance planning and implementation, and maintenance of provider networks and access to care.

As Medical Director of Medcore Medical Group, a California IPA with over 400 physicians serving San Joaquin County, Dr. Yucht has provided overall medical direction of utilization management, quality improvement , and credentialing programs in a delegated managed care model. He has developed scopes of service for primary care and specialist physicians for purposes of care delivery and revenue distribution under various contract models, including capitation and zero-based budgets. He has actively participated in health plan and provider contract review, maintenance of provider networks and resolution of issues and development of strategies to ensure access to care. Dr. Yucht has had responsibility for developing and maintaining policies, procedures and practices that assure medical group compliance with NCQA standards, health plan requirements, government, and other regulatory mandates. He has met with contracted health plans to identify opportunities to improve performance through effective medical and operational management.

Dr. Yucht brings to pmpm® clinical and technical knowledge as a Diplomate in the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Professionals (1998-2001) and a Certified Professional in Utilization Review, InterQual (1995-1997), as well as excellent communication skills to facilitate interaction with health plans, physicians, employers, brokers, enrollees, and care delivery and operational staff. His ability to address problem resolution through a non-adversarial posture, relying on an analytical approach, using administrative data, coupled with an understanding of the impact of important clinical issues, has enabled him to be an effective physician leader. Dr. Yucht is committed to the application of evidence-based medicine to assure high quality affordable health care while taking into consideration the unique needs of patients.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Yucht has served as President of the Medical Staff at San Joaquin General Hospital, Chair, Medicine/Family Practice Quality Assurance Committee, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and he has held numerous other hospital medical staff positions including Chair, Respiratory Care Committee, member Medicine/Family Practice Committee and Medical Education Committee. He has directed medical staff by-laws revisions and helped prepare for a successful JCAHO survey, and as Director, Respiratory Services, San Joaquin General Hospital, developed algorithm and software for computer interpretation of blood gas and pulmonary function tests, with
report generation.
